Football Fans in Training (FFIT)

Posted 04th September 2017

David McDade, supported by Fair Deal has joined up to the Football Fans in Training (FFIT) programme.  FFIT is a healthy living and weight loss programme that was carefully designed to appeal to men. It incorporates the latest scientific approaches to weight loss, physical activity and diet and taps the potential of professional football clubs to engage overweight and obese men in weight loss. It has been developed and successfully evaluated in a major research project led by the University of Glasgow.

FFIT is delivered by community coaches at Scotland’s top professional football clubs to groups of men aged 35-65 who are obese, or at high risk of becoming obese. Men attend 12 weekly sessions at their local club to learn useful skills and techniques to help them improve their levels of physical activity and diet. Each meeting involves time in the classroom and also a training session with the coaches. Once the 12 sessions end, the men receive regular reminder emails and attend a reunion session at the club 9 months after they began FFIT.

David McDade and his Support Worker Stevie McArthur are going along every week and having fun while getting fit.
