Working closely with her colleague Scott Green, Gail has been developing and promoting this exciting project, building on the initial success of the pilot programme. The first year of Help Yourself Grow comprises of 2 gardening and 2 cookery training programmes which commenced in early July 2016. Each session lasts for 4 hours and the training programme will run for a period of 12 months. The trainees will have the opportunity to gain an accreditation, as well as develop confidence and meet new friends, whilst learning new skills and knowledge. Gail has also been able to offer some additional
development opportunities to some of the trainees due to a partnership with The Village Storytelling Centre, hosting of the HYG launch, MacMillan Biggest Coffee morning and visits to other projects. Gail has regular contact with the horticultural and cookery trainers to ensure that the programme is meeting the expectations of the young people and feedback is gathered from the trainees and their parents/carers regularly.

The main objectives of her post are to assist in the design and development of new and existing services to creatively meet the support needs of people. She also provides positive leadership and management which enables small teams of workers to deliver and continually improve on quality support in line with peoples‘ needs, agreed outcomes, aspirations and individual budgets. Anne Marie makes sure all of the support meets the necessary standards, that Fair Deal complies with all of its regulatory requirements and she is the Registered Manager with the Care Inspectorate. As well as working closely with Fair Deal staff Anne Marie works for people who use Fair Deal‘s services and their families and representatives. She makes sure planning is person centered, support is personally tailored to suit individuals and that people enjoy fulfilled lives. She liaises with relevant professional agencies, care managers, commissioners and other staff. Fair Deal enjoys positive partnership relationships with a diverse range of organisations and Anne Marie is responsible for ensuring these continue and new ones are developed to make sure people with learning disabilities have maximum opportunity for participating and being included.

Since February 2016, Scott has also secured a part time Co trainer post on the Help Yourself Grow project.
