The resource allocation system is commonly referred to as the RAS.
It is the process that takes the points scored through the self evaluation questionnaire which reflect the person's level of need and translates the points into an amount of money to be used to meet their needs.
Some local authorities have agreed an amount per point whereas others work on a banding system.
The amount of money allocated to the individual through this process is called their Individual Budget. At this stage it is an indicative amount that needs to be finally agreed after the Support Plan has been drawn up and agreed.
This is the amount the individual should work with when devising their support arrangements.
