The Plan It, Try It, Buy It Event was a day conference looking at the use of assistive technology to maximise independence.
The conference was the brainchild of people with learning disabilities who through the Planit Group in the South East decided they had been listening long enough to everyone else talking about how technology could help people live safely and more independently.
They decided they would actually organise a day event for themselves and for other people who had learning disabilities. The day was very successful.
The group are now seeking ways to make their discoveries from the day known to the Scottish Government and local authorities especially with the introduction of Self Directed Support and Individual Budgets.
In the course of this they will be looking to represent the views of people with learning disabilities in this whole area of work.
