Our Staff

 

Fair Deal is an innovative and forward thinking organisation. We are an inclusive organisation, recognising the positiveness of diversity. We value the contribution of all staff giving ideas and views about our work and how we can continually improve what we do. We currently employ 106 members of staff across the organisation.

We are an equal opportunity employer. There are jobs in administration, finance and development but by far the majority of staff are employed in the direct support of people with learning disabilities. This is why we were set up and it continues to be our priority area of work.

Margaret Fenton

Margaret is the Director of Operations. She is responsible for ensuring that Fair Deal operate within a person centred way across all of the organisation and for making sure they are responsive to individual need. She monitors outcomes are being achieved. She sets standards across the services and monitors and evaluates performance and effectiveness. Margaret is responsible for making sure Fair Deal meets the standards set by the Care Inspectorate. She provides direction and leadership for the Team Leaders and links with external organisations on operational issues.

She has responsibility for recruitment, staff training and development and meeting the organisations statutory requirements. Margaret is responsible for the development and implementation of core competencies for the staff team. She is responsible for raising the profile of Fair Deal with external agencies. She works with the local authority and health as well as with organisations such as the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care, The Social Care Ideas Factory, The Scottish Social Services Council and the Advocacy Project.

Within her role she is an active member of the management team and contributes to the strategic development of Fair Deal and keeping abreast of changes in policy which may impact on the organisation and the people they support.

 

Anne Marie Borthwick

Anne Marie is the Quality and Development Manager. She works closely with the Director of Operations and Fair Deal‘s Operational team Leaders to manage and develop highly individualised support services to people with learning disabilities. The main objectives of her post are to assist in the design and development of new and existing services to creatively meet the support needs of people. She also provides positive leadership and and management which enables small teams of workers to deliver and continually improve on quality support in line with peoples‘ needs, agreed outcomes, aspirations and individual budgets. Anne Marie makes sure all of the support meets the necessary standards, that Fair Deal complies with all of its regulatory requirements and she is the Registered Manager with the Care Inspectorate. As well as working closely with Fair Deal staff Anne Marie works for people who use Fair Deal's services and their families and representatives. She makes sure planning is person centered, support is personally tailored to suit individuals and that people enjoy fulfilled lives. She liaises with relevant professional agencies, care managers, commissioners and other staff. Fair Deal enjoys positive partnership relationships with a diverse range of organisations and Anne Marie is responsible for ensuring these continue and new ones are developed to make sure people with learning disabilities have maximum opportunity for participating and being included.

 

Lizzie Currie

Lizzie is a Team Leader responsible for individual support. She is responsible for leading and motivating teams to enable people to:-

  • increase community presence
  • be safe
  • be healthy

  • to be seen as equal citizens

  • have a life worth living
  • have more friends
  • learn new skills
  • contribute to society

Team Leaders will do this by:-

Pauline Martin

Pauline is a Team Leader responsible for individual support. She is responsible for leading and motivating teams to enable people to:-

Audrey Thomson

Audrey works with Planning Together and is responsible for engaging with people who have learning disabilities and their families and carers. She ensures that they are appropriately consulted and actively involved in the ongoing development of services and support arrangements across Glasgow.

She tries to reach as many people as possible in the various localities across the city by establishing the Planit Groups in the 5 localities. Audrey also works hard at making sure people who are often left out of the consultative processes are actively involved. She does this by making information and documents easy read and accessible for everyone.

Audrey facilitates the Planit Group meetings and supports the participants with the various events and campaigns they decide to organise. Audrey has supported people to be fully involved in the modernisation of day services in Glasgow and attends the neccesary meetings with the Director of Social Work and the Councillors.

 

Scott Green

 
Scott the Development Workers Face

Scott is the development worker with Fair Deal.  His job is to engage with people who use Fair deal Services and activities as well as those who don't to find out about what interests them. He has carried out survey work in relation to employment and volunteering and is heavily involved in the Help Yourself Grow work. He is currently involved in developing a buddy travel scheme and will be engaging with people about traveling independently. Scott plays a crucial role in the work of Fair Deal and has been involved with day centres, schools and other groups where people with learning disabilities are able to make known information about how they want to be supported, what they want to learn to do and what activities they want to engage in.

 

Clare Houston

Clare is the senior administrator with Fair Deal. Clare manages the administrative work of the organisation as well as supervising the administrative staff.   She is responsible for making sure that the administrative service provided is efficient and flexible. She does payroll support and keeps track of training and attendance as well as a range of other admin tasks.
Clare‘s team consists of Sumra, Peter and Laura who work effectively together to deliver on all of the administrative functions necessary to keep Fair Deal running smoothly.

 

Sumra Haq

Sumra is the Finance  Administrator for Fair Deal. Her duties include processing the 4 weeekly invoices, paying staff expenses, recording cash income and expenditure, keeping detailed financial records and organsing the interviews for staff recruitment.

 

Laura Donovan

Laura is the Receptionist for Fair Deal and is the first point of contact for many visitors to the office. She is supported in this work by Peter and together they provide a warm welcome in a friendly manner. Laura also works on general admin tasks as part of the team helping out where necessary.

 

Leanne McGowan

Leanne is the Finance Officer and works for Ardenglen Housing Association. She also provides the financial services and support needed by Fair Deal which Fair Deal purchases from Ardenglen. This makes good business sense for Fair Deal and is a very cost effective way of getting specialised support. 

Leanne‘s remit includes the day to day operation of the finances, budget setting support and production of quarterly management accounts and/or any other financial reports required by the senior management team or board.
