CEO January blog
I’m not sure if it is an age thing or not but the time is flying by so quickly. It seems as though I am writing a New Year message to welcome in 2017 and before you know it we are in 2018.
What will 2018 bring… well we have started the year with two storms and I hope that this is not the sign of things to come our way.
Welcome to 2018 the 29th year of operation for the organisation. As we head towards our 30th year there are great expectations and opportunities ahead for Fair Deal to remain a leading social care organisation in Glasgow. With your help, commitment and creativity we can continue to be at the forefront of delivering creative solutions to enable the people we work with and for to remain within their own home and community and to lead the life of their choosing.
We have a range of strategic priorities for 2018 and these are outlined below. if you are you looking for a challenge, have suggestions and ideas about how we can be more creative, have skills and experience that you would like to develop and that could benefit you and the organisation please continue and read all about the plans for 2018
Night-time support: Developing creative solutions that will support the people we are working with to stay within their own homes where possible. This may include – waking night support, technology enabled support, responder service or a combination of all.
Transport: Implementing an alternative to the current use of taxis and escort duties by providing our own transport. We are also looking at utilising our experienced staff to support people to develop their skills and travel independently.
Social and leisure programme: We are planning to review the current programme. By talking with you and the people we are working with and their families, we hope that we can build on our current success. As funding becomes tight we will aim to offer a really creative solution to people ensuring that they remain active and happy and continue to see Fair Deal as their support provider of choice.
We are seeking to introduce two new opportunities in January and February. January will see us offer a Friday social and leisure opportunity at Nethercraigs. This opportunity will be aimed at young people with a learning disability. In February we are working towards introducing a Saturday programme based at Barrowfield Community Centre.
ISO: We are working towards accreditation by the end of March 2018. We are also looking at moving all our systems and processes to the cloud. This is an exciting development and should ensure that we are fit for purpose moving forward
Review of models of support: We are considering different models of support and an opportunity to develop partnership arrangements with other organisations and agencies. The aim would be to provide opportunities for the organisation to remain at the forefront of creative community based solution in the delivery of social care.
We have 5 working groups operating with representation from senior staff and Board members. If you are interested in any of the proposed developments and would like to talk to us about what you can offer please e-mail me or contact your line manager.
The one constant that we can be sure of is change and 2018 will be another year of change for all of us at Fair Deal.
I’m looking forward to 2018 and working with you to take the organisation forward, maintaining services, creating new opportunities and safeguarding jobs as well as the reputation of the organisation.
Wishing you, your family and friends a happy and peaceful New Year.
