Good Support Plans

Fair Deal prides itself in ensuring the support we provide to individuals in designing their support plans is of the highest quality. In doing this we make sure the person is at the centre of the planning and encourage them to be fully involved, controlling as much of the process as they want.

We are clear that good support plans must reflect the needs, preferences, choices and the aspirations of the individual person. Good support plans must also be in a format relevent to the person it belongs to. This means it can be written in words, drawn in pictures or put together using photographs, audio or video versions.

There are a number of basic criteria that the local authority will expect to see in a support plan. These are:-

  • What is important to the person
  • what they are going to change or achieve
  • How they will be supported
  • How they will use and manage their individual budget
  • How the support will be managed
  • How they will stay in control
  • What action they will take to make sure it all happens

We recognise some useful support planning tools in the Helen Sanderson Associates Website.

Thoughts from Laura about her support

Laura speaking into the microphone at the Fiar Deal AGM

Laura is supported by Fair deal and will explain the difference it makes to her life. What is important to Laura is what she is able to achieve now and the way she has a full life and does the kind of things she likes to do.

She will tell you more about this through her You Tube Videos
