Fair Deal supporting the community

Posted 18th October 2018

Fair Deal is a social enterprise based in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow that provides support, care and fulfilling activities for those with learning disabilities.

We were founded in 1989 by a group of parents to influence change and break new ground in relation to service design and delivery for people with learning disabilities – this continues to be a big part of what we seek to do with the full involvement of people who use our support and services as well as parents and carers. We also provide support to older people and younger people.

As an organisation we are completely committed to meeting the individual needs of the people we support, as well as challenging and campaigning on their behalf when necessary. While some organisations are often about providing a service to people, we at Fair Deal are about helping people get a life through the support we provide. We provide a range of options for people to purchase using their individual budgets and we can provide support every step of the way.

Fair Deal provide services such as leisure activities, the Help Yourself Grow scheme designed to teach young people gardening and cooking, and short breaks like those to Ardentinny outdoor centre. The needs of individuals are put at the forefront of these services and it is our goal to make them comfortable and happy, leading to a improvement in their lives.

In our last inspection from the Care Inspectorate we also received the maximum grades – a 6 for Care and Support, and also a 6 for Management and Leadership. Individual users of Fair Deal therefore receive the highest possible standard of care and you can rest assured that they are in safe hands.
